Slow Cooker Bavarian Bratwurst with Sauerkraut and Potatoes

 

Ingredients

– 1 lb bratwurst, cut into 4-inch pieces or sliced
– 2 lbs sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
– 1.5 lbs potatoes, scrubbed and quartered
– 1 medium onion, sliced
– 1 apple, cored and sliced (optional for sweetness)
– 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tbsp brown sugar
– 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional for authentic flavor)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
