Poppy Seed Rolls
Directions
In a big bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Mix together flour, warm milk, egg, and butter. Mix until you have a smooth dough.
Work the dough on a surface with a little flour until it becomes smooth and stretchy, for around 10 minutes.
Put the dough in a bowl with some grease, cover it with a wet cloth, and let it grow in a warm spot until it doubles in size, which should take around 1 hour.
Press the dough that has risen and separate it into 12 equal parts. Shape each part into a ball and softly press to make it a bit flat.
Spread butter inside the small baking dishes and then sprinkle poppy seeds on the bottom. Put the dough balls in the small baking dishes with the side that has seeds facing down. Then, flip them so the seeds end up on the top.
Cover the small dishes and let the rolls rise again until they puff up and fill the dishes, for about 45 minutes.
Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) before using it.
Put egg wash on the top of the rolls to make them shiny.
Cook in the oven that has been heated beforehand for 20 to 25 minutes, or until it turns golden brown.
Take out of the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before serving.
