Pineapple cheese ball
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Cheese Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, grated sharp cheddar cheese, and drained crushed pineapple.
- Add in the green onions or chives, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. If you’d like the cheese ball to be a bit creamier, you can add a tablespoon of mayonnaise or sour cream.
- Mix everything together thoroughly until smooth and well combined.
2. Form the Cheese Ball:
- Using your hands or a spoon, shape the cheese mixture into a ball. You can make it as large or small as you like, but a medium-sized ball (about 6 inches in diameter) is typical.
3. Roll the Cheese Ball:
- Pour the chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts) onto a plate or shallow dish.
- Gently roll the cheese ball in the nuts, pressing lightly to ensure the nuts stick to the surface. You can also roll it in additional chopped green onions or chives for extra color and flavor.
4. Chill:
- Wrap the cheese ball tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours, or until you’re ready to serve. Chilling helps the flavors meld together and makes the cheese ball easier to slice.
5. Serve:
- Once chilled, place the cheese ball on a serving platter and surround it with crackers, pretzels, or fresh vegetable sticks (such as celery or carrots).
- Serve with a spreader or knife so guests can easily scoop up the cheese ball.
Tips:
- Nuts: If you prefer not to use nuts, you can roll the cheese ball in more chopped green onions, fresh parsley, or even crispy bacon bits for a different flavor.
- Make Ahead: This cheese ball can be made up to 2 days in advance and kept in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Sweet and Savory Twist: For a fun variation, you can add chopped dried cranberries, raisins, or even a bit of jalapeño for a spicy-sweet combo.
This Pineapple Cheese Ball is a deliciously unique appetizer that’s sure to be a hit at your next gathering!
