Peppermint Patties

Instructions

    • In a large bowl mix together the sweetened condensed milk and peppermint extract.
¾ cup sweetened condensed milk,1 ½ teaspoons peppermint extract
    • Next using an electric mixer slowly start to mix in your powdered sugar. You are looking for a stiff dough that is not sticky.
      4 cups powdered sugar
    • Once your dough is formed you can begin to roll your dough into balls and place them on a parchment lined tray. Gently flatten the balls down into a thick disc shape (2 inch disks that were about 1/4 inch thickness).
    • Place the tray into the freezer. Let the patties freeze for about an hour.
  • When you are ready to dip, melt your almond bark in 30 second intervals in the microwave until all melted and smooth.
    1 pound chocolate almond bark
  • Working quickly, dip the peppermint patties into the chocolate. Gently shake off any excess or scrape it off the bottom on the side of the bowl.
  • Place back onto the parchment paper and immediately top with sprinkles if desired.

 Notes

Storage:

  • To Store: Store your homemade peppermint patties in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
  • To Freeze: Store your peppermint patties in a freezer safe container and freeze for up to 2 months.

Tips:

    • You can make these large like a regular size peppermint patty or a smaller size.
    • Feel free to add some festive sprinkles, but they are still great without.
    • The chocolate hardens quickly, so be prepared to add any sprinkles immediately after dipping. Otherwise, the sprinkles will roll right off!
  • Make sure you freeze these peppermint patties before dipping. They are delicate and can melt fast in the chocolate if not frozen.
  • I like to keep my candy in the fridge until serving to make sure they stay nice and firm.
