
Olivia Walton’s Applesauce Cake
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the applesauce.
In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the applesauce mixture, mixing until just blended. Fold in the raisins and nuts if you’re using them.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
