Naan Bread Easy Recipe

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yogurt, olive oil, and milk, then pour in the activated yeast mixture. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
  3. Knead the Dough:
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–6 minutes.
  4. Let it Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the Naan:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten into an oval or round shape, about ¼ inch thick.
  6. Cook the Naan:
Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the pan. Place one rolled-out naan in the pan. Cook for 1–2 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook the other side for another 1–2 minutes. Repeat for all pieces.
  7. Optional Toppings:
Brush the warm naan with melted butter, garlic, or herbs as desired.
  8. Serve:
Serve warm with your favorite dishes or dips!
