PREPARATION:
Add to pot cook down water as needed
Season to taste with salt pepper chives parsley
Add shredded braised chuck roast with au ju
For chuck I braised in the oven the day before in water until fork tender. About 4 hours. Shredded and added 2 packs McCormick au ju
Cool in frig over night
Half way thru cooking veggies add shredded beef and broth with fat
I am old fashioned and follow my grandma …near the end of cooking I reseason to taste add more water if needed and 4 T of butter to give depth

Just one from my memories
For Maryland Crab soup I substitute chuck for 2 pounds of Maryland crab claw meat and the au jus flavoring for old bay and a few T of Better than Bullion chicken paste
