Family Meat Pie Recipe
Directions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel and chop the potato, then place it in a saucepan, cover with water, and bring it to a boil.
Cook for about 5 minutes, or until tender. Drain and mash the potato, setting it aside for later use. In a separate large pan, crumble the ground beef
and add the garlic, onion, and water. Sprinkle in the mustard powder, thyme, ground cloves, salt, pepper, and sage. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently,
until the beef is browned and the seasonings are well mixed. Once cooked, remove from heat and fold in the mashed potatoes.
Step 2
Place one of the pie crusts into a 9-inch pie plate (use your preferred pie crust recipe or refer to the recipe link). Pour the beef and potato mixture into the crust.
Cover with the second pie crust, making sure to seal the edges by pressing with a fork. Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. If necessary,
trim any excess dough, and cover the edges of the crust with aluminum foil to prevent burning. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or until the pie crust turns golden brown.
Step 3
Let the pie cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy on its own or with a side of beef gravy for extra flavor.
