The Ingredients
You’ll only need two simple ingredients to make the Cinnamon Roll Wrapped Breakfast Sausage (the exact measurements and full recipe instructions are below in the easy to print recipe card):
Fully cooked breakfast sausage links – find these in the freezer section in your grocery store. They’re cooked and ready to be thawed and used in this recipe.
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with original icing – there should be 8 rolls in the package. Be sure to use the regular size cinnamon rolls, not the big Grands rolls.
How to Make Breakfast Pigs in a Blanket
Preheat the oven to 350ºF degrees. Open the cinnamon rolls and set the frosting aside.
Slightly flatten each cinnamon roll, then place one sausage in the center of each roll.
Wrap the dough up around the sausage and pinch shut. The sausage should be visible at each end of the roll. Place the rolls seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Note: If you place the rolls on the baking sheet with the seam side up, the rolls will pop open while baking.
Bake at 350F for 15-17 minutes until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
Tip: To test whether the rolls are baked through or not, gently press on the roll with a spoon. If it bounces right back, it’s done. If the roll doesn’t bounce back quickly after you press on it, it may need to bake a bit longer. The rolls should be totally golden brown, but not burned on the bottom.
Drizzle the frosting over top of the hot rolls. Cool slightly before serving.
Serving Ideas
Maple Syrup – Try dipping the rolls in maple syrup. You might like this instead of the frosting, or in addition to the frosting.
Grab ‘n Go – Make these rolls for a quick breakfast on the go! Pack the hot rolls into small food storage containers and bring them with you for breakfast in the car, at work, etc.
How to Store Leftovers
Keep the leftover rolls in an airtight food storage container. They will stay fresh for up to three days in the refrigerator.
