2 cups sugar
4 eggs – room temperature
3 cups flour self-rising
1 cup buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla

Caramel Icing
4 cups sugar
2 cup buttermilk
1 cup Crisco – or preferred solid vegetable shortening
1 cup butter
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla extract
