Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 8×12-inch casserole dish or baking dish.

Prepare the Ground Beef:

  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat (optional, for extra flavor). Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  • Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until it’s browned. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Drain any excess fat.

Prepare the Potatoes:

  • Peel and slice the potatoes thinly (about 1/8-inch thick slices). You can use a mandolin or knife for uniform slices.

Mix the Sauces:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, cream of cheddar soup, and milk. Stir until smooth.

Assemble the Casserole:

  • In the greased casserole dish, arrange a layer of sliced potatoes.
  • Spread a portion of the cooked ground beef mixture on top.
  • Pour some of the soup mixture over the beef.
  • Sprinkle about 1/3 of the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of shredded cheddar cheese.

Bake:

Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 60-70 minutes until the potatoes are tender. You can test by inserting a fork.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to brown the cheese on top.
Garnish and Serve:

Let the casserole cool slightly, and garnish with fresh parsley or chopped green onions if desired.
Serve warm and enjoy!

Tips:

  • You can add extra vegetables like peas, carrots, or corn for more texture.
  • If you prefer, swap the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
